What to Expect During a Fluoroscopy Procedure

2. During the Procedure
- Positioning: You may be asked to lie down, stand, or sit depending on the test
- Contrast Dye: A contrast agent (barium or iodine-based) may be given orally, via IV, or via catheter
- Live X-Ray Imaging: A fluoroscope is positioned over the area to be scanned; images are displayed in real time
- Instructions: You may be asked to hold your breath or stay still for clearer images
3. Duration
- Typically 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the procedure and area of the body
4. Post-Procedure Care
- Observation: If contrast dye was used, brief observation for allergic reactions may be required
- Hydration: Drink water to flush the dye from your system
- Resume Routine: Most patients can resume daily activities immediately
