Kidney Transplant Performed Between Different Blood Groups at Apex Hospitals

Doctors at Apex Hospitals achieved a remarkable medical milestone by successfully performing a kidney transplant between a donor and recipient with different blood groups. This groundbreaking surgery, led by kidney transplant specialists Dr. Ajaypal Singh and Dr. Saurabh Jain, has given the patient a new lease of life.
The patient had previously undergone a kidney transplant at Apex Hospitals in 2013. However, due to kidney failure, another transplant became necessary. With no same-blood-group donor available, the patient’s wife, despite having a different blood group, stepped forward to donate her kidney.
Dr. Singh explained that the team employed advanced medical protocols, including desensitization techniques, plasmapheresis, and new immune-suppressing drugs, to overcome the challenges of blood group incompatibility.
The successful procedure highlights the hospital’s expertise in tackling complex transplant cases and offers hope to patients waiting for life-saving transplants despite donor limitations.
