Successful Heart Surgery Performed on Three-Year-Old Child at Apex Hospital Under Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana
Doctors at Apex Hospital, Jaipur, have successfully performed a complex heart surgery on a three-year-old child suffering from a serious congenital heart condition, giving her a new lease of life. The entire treatment was provided free of cost under the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana.
The surgery was performed under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Kumar Bhukar, Consultant – Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS). The child was diagnosed with cyanotic congenital heart disease, specifically Tetralogy of Fallot, a condition in which there is a large hole between the two pumping chambers of the heart, along with narrowing of the blood vessel carrying blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.
Due to reduced oxygenated blood supply, the child experienced symptoms such as bluish discolouration of the lips and nails, breathlessness, and difficulty feeding.
Dr. Bhukar explained that the child underwent intracardiac repair surgery, during which the defect between the chambers was closed, and reconstruction of the pulmonary valve, pulmonary wall, and artery was performed. The surgery lasted approximately five hours, and the child was discharged in stable condition on the fifth day after surgery.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sachin Jhawar, Director, Apex Hospital, stated that the availability of advanced medical technology and a highly experienced team of specialists at the hospital has made it possible to successfully perform such complex procedures.
